Sometimes. If the decking is sound and there is only one layer of shingles, a Prosperity metal roof can go over the top on purlins. If there is rot underneath or two layers already on, we tear off first — and we will tell you that before you sign, not halfway through.
A typical Prosperity shingle roof runs roughly $8,000 to $18,000 in 2026 for an average single family home, and more if the deck has rot or the roof is steep and cut up with dormers. We do not price off a satellite photo — somebody comes out and measures.
